Sexual arousal disorder

It is an ongoing problem staying sexually excited. There is a desire to have sex, but when it happens, it is not pleasurable. May be due to decreased sensitivity in the genitals or lack of vaginal lubrication.

Treatment goals

  • Sexual psycho education to both members of the couple.
  • Detecting pleasant stimuli and looking for other procedures to reach arousal.
  • Addressing feelings of shame, inhibition, withdrawal, among others.
  • Progressive approximation towards the different parts involved in a sexual relationship.
  • The situational anxiety related to the perspective of having sex.
  • Irrational beliefs modification.
  • Offering a space of communication, doubts, worries and frustrations of both members of the couple.
  • Self-esteem.
  • Emotion management.
  • Others.
