Being a carrier of a cancer, has an emotional impact and a number of implications for the person at different levels:

  • Changes in the life project unexpectedly
  • Feelings of inadequacy
  • Physical deterioration and mutilation
  • Helplessness and uncertainty
  • Fear of dying

All these factors generate emotional instability throughout the disease process, a constant threat to physical integrity, family, social, and economic work.

Moreover, cancer in women has an impact at the level of self: alterations in reproductive function, changes in self-image, not feel attractive or desirable, and alterations in intimate relationships and family, negatively impacting their self-esteem.

Why is it necessary to treat

It is important to intervene in all the clinical process from the time of detection to:

  • Help support better diagnosis and treatment
  • Reduce feelings of alienation, helplessness and abandonment
  • Reduce anxiety in relation to treatment
  • Information and clarify misconceptions
  • Foster a sense of control
