Stress

DEFINITION:

Perception of not being able to confront the demands of professional and personal life effectively.  Sensation of having exhausted ones resources before a demand which is excessively demanding.

FREQUENT PHYSICAL REACTIONS:

  • Tiredness.
  • Pain.
  • Illness.
  • Immune system affected.

MOST FREQUENT IDEAS:

  • "I cannot make decisions"
  • "I will not be able to respond to the expectations of my boss"
  • "I feel incapable"
  • "Circumstances and work are too much for me"
  • "I cannot do everything"

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS NOT TREATED:

  • Physical problems such as ulcers, cephalagia or depression of the immune system (vulnerability of the organism).  Problems of performance, lack of concentration, attention difficulties and little motivation can also occur.
  • If the stress is prolonged it can develop into other more serious psychological and psycho pathological problems such as depression, anxiety disorders or problems with consumption of drugs or alcohol.
  • Social and familiar relation problems.
